ver since man first became civilized, dolls have been a part of that life. As far back into history as we can go, we have seen traces of handmade
rag dolls. Made from bits and pieces of whatever was in hand, from
corn shucks to twigs to cloth, little girls have had homemade cloth dolls to
play with. Not wanting to waste anything in those days, frontier women would
handcrafted cloth rag dolls from scraps of cloth. A piece of cloth was wrapped
around a twig and given to a child to entertain themselves. As
civilization evolved, cloth dolls developed into more sophisticated dolls that
walk and talk.
Head back to the simple life
If you have a country style room, shabby chic room, or primitive room, you
need a handmade
rag doll to help give it that original look.
Put several handcrafted rag dolls in a basket. Group cloth rag dolls on a table.
Hang a cloth rag doll on the wall. There are so many places
a
rag doll can go and add flavor to the room. To
pay homage to those days-gone-by times, Lizzie has created some of the most
wonderful cloth
rag dolls to complete any country craft,
primitive, or shabby chic room. These handmade
rag dolls stand anywhere from 8" to 13" tall.
Each rag doll is hand made from strips of cloth. Some dolls have bonnet
tops along with a primitive apron wrapped around their waist. The rag dolls come with a simple stand for those
who want to display them.
